So for a while now a couple of my friends and family have been saying to turn the spinning bar into a flail. I've been reluctant do so because flails traditionally haven't done successfully in Robot Wars but in the end, I decided to give it a go because a flail resolves the issue with reach fairly quickly, which the bar spinner does have a problem with.
With a quick trip to B&Q, we were in business. The flail is made up of two lines of chain held at one end by a M6 bolt with 5x nuts on one end and a nyloc nut at the other end to give it momentum.
Here comes the video and the warning.
BUILDING A ROBOT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN VERY EASILY HARM YOU AND EVERYONE AROUND YOU.
Well... that was dramatic, wasn't it? The whack to the case did leave some marks...
...and bent the aluminium frame of the case fairly easily and this was the flail at half power.
The wiring to the weapon motor flew off so I'll redo the wiring to the weapon and see what happens at full power.
